Topic: Strengthening the Collective Impact of Leadership Development
Date: Tuesday September 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PDT
This webinar makes the case about why we in the field of leadership development need to think differently about whose leadership we develop, how we develop collective leadership, and the impact we have. We believe that starts with shifting our focus of attention, from individuals to groups, and from organizations to communities and networks as we design our leadership supports and programs.
This webinar presents three case examples of community leadership development approaches that have cultivated leadership networks that have had significant results in communities. We share lessons about how to design community leadership programs for impact; and how to recruit to results by moving beyond usual suspects and paying attention to the cohort. We also share models of action learning that are linked to the real work people do in their communities, and strategies for cultivating community leadership networks.
If you are working with communities to develop, support, catalyze, and invest in community leadership development, this webinar shares what the Leadership Learning Community has been learning through our joint work in the area of community leadership and collective impact. The webinar is hosted by Deborah Meehan, LLC's Executive Director, and Claire Reinelt, LLC's Research and Evaluation Director. Together they bring years of experience researching community leadership development, and advocating for a change in the leadership development paradigm to foster leadership that is more inclusive, collective, networked, and accountable for results.
